This programme covers a wide range of theoretical and experimental areas within Computer Science and Bioinformatics:
The programme is affiliated with the Department of Computer Science, which has around 1000 students and 150 employees. The department houses several prominent research centers, including Center for Massive Data Algorithmics, Center for the Theory of Interactive Computation, Bioinformatics Research Center, Center for Pervasive Healthcare, Center for Interactive Spaces, and Center for Advanced Software Analysis.
Before you apply, please have a look at the relevant research pages listed above and read the application guidelines, which specify required documentation. Research-related questions should be directed at the relevant research leader. General questions about PhD studies, admission etc. should be directed at head of programme Anders Møller or PhD Administrator Sofia Rasmussen.
After graduation a majority of our students are employed in the IT industry in the Aarhus area, which includes companies such as Google Aarhus, Systematic, and Trifork, however many choose to seek opportunities internationally, and many obtain academic positions either in Denmark or abroad.
Except for Bioinformatics, all research groups are located in the IT-City of Katrinebjerg, Aarhus.
There is close collaboration with the Department of Information and Media Sciences, the Alexandra Institute, and numerous IT companies. The Bioinformatics activities are located at the main AU campus.
