General information

An AUFF grant consists of a scholarship of DKK 15,000 per month (taxed at source) to be used for living expenses (housing, course fees etc.) and travel expenses (transport, visa etc.). The grant cannot be used for project materials and permanent equipment or for travel expenses for family members.

The scholarship is not to be compared with a salaried position and is not extended due to maternity or paternity leave or sickness. It does not include holiday allowance or pension, and the candidate will not be covered by AU insurance.

Please note, for stays in Denmark longer than 90 days the candidate is considered a resident and will need to register for social security number and tax card, get a Danish bank account, and acquire a resident certificate (EU citizens) or work permit (non-EU citizens).

For stays of 90 days or less the candidate will not be considered a resident and the scholarship is transferred to the candidate’s home bank account – usually tax exempted but depending on the decision of the tax authorities.
