Improve your ability to present yourself and your research effectively in professional contexts, with a focus on job interview preparation. In this workshop you will be provided with the tools to enhance your presentations skills by training body language, voice control, eye contact and how to create a strong narrative about your research. Smartphones and/or tablets will be used as recording devices. At the end of the workshop, you will have a recorded presentation of yourself that you can use for job interviews or for other professional purposes. The workshop will be conducted by Cathrine la Cour, from the Copenhagen communication company Outreach-Now

Prior to the workshop, you need to set aside some time to prepare the following:

  • What is the narrative, or the story, in my research? This involves the perspectives of your research (why is it important, who will gain from it?) and your personal and professional passion/dedication (how does it show, how are you dedicated?)
  • Find a visual object: What item(s) can I use to explain/show my research? It can be anything: a skull, an apple, an umbrella. What picture (item) is useful to describe your research on an immediate, visual level?

Target group: AU PhDs and JRs

Cancellation Courtesy Policy

We kindly request that you promptly cancel your participation as soon as you know that you cannot attend. Late cancellations and not cancelling at all, greatly impact our work in three significant ways:

  • Candidates on the waiting list are not able to attend
  • The quality of the course or workshop cannot be guaranteed when groups are too small
  • Prepared and paid resources are wasted when registered participants do not show up

Thank you!
